The Association of Banks in Cambodia

The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) was formed in 1994 and recognized by the Royal Government of Cambodia as the official entity to represent Cambodia’s private banking sector. In 1997, ABC was officially recognized by the Council of Ministers. ABC becomes the 8th member banks of the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA) in 1999. ABC is operated under the frame of the Law on Banking and Financing Institution, 1999 and its Articles that was approved on 28 August 2001 and registered at the National Bank of Cambodia on 2 October 2001. Finally, on 23 November 2012, ABC had officially registered with the Ministry of Interior.

Summary

Objective and Expected Outcomes


The event, as part of a series of events to support the adoption and implementation of the Sustainable Finance Principles, will focus on raising awareness of gender, with practical examples and tools to integrate the topic into the Bank members' systems and policies. Specific anticipated outcomes include:

  • Awareness of benefits from integrating gender into internal systems and policies;
  • A practical case example shared; and
  • Lessons learned of different bank members exchanged.


Audience


The Meeting will bring together 45-50 bank representatives with decision making authority and mandates related to sustainable finance within their organizations. Invitations will be tailored only to subject matters and relevant bank representatives i.e. ABC members of the Sustainability Working Group.
